The Taliban have taken control of Zaranj in Afghanistan's Nimroz province and Sheberghan, the capital of Jawzjan province, after a fierce battle with security forces, and the governor's house is now under militant control. Speaking to a US broadcaster, Haji Nabi Brahui, deputy governor of Nimroz, said that after more than an hour of fighting, the Taliban captured the provincial capital, Zaranj, while the Afghan army retreated to Dilaram district. Nimroz police have complained that no troops were sent to fight the militants, nor were we assisted by fresh police. However, the deputy governor of Nimroz claims that the Taliban will be liberated from the provincial capital. On the other hand, after two days of fierce fighting, the Taliban have also taken control of Sheberghan, the capital of the Afghan province of Jawzjan. The house of warlord Abdul Rashid Dostum, an ally of the Afghan president, was set on fire.
