Plans to improve transportation infrastructure in Pakistan are of paramount importance. Three corridors for cargo transport have been identified: 1. Eastern network of roads of Sindh and Punjab where most of the industries are located 2. The Western Network will connect the less developed and sparsely populated areas of Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and Balochistan. 3. Central network that will pass through Khyber Pakhtunkhwa, Punjab and Balochistan Eastern Network Interestingly, China and Pakistan already trade via the Karakoram Highway. The existing M-1 motorway at Burhan will meet N35 at Shahmaghsoud Interchange. Access from there to Islamabad and Lahore is already open as part of the existing M1 and M2 motorways. The 487 km long section of Karakoram Highway between Burhan and Raikot is being improved. The 59-kilometer, 4-lane highway between Burhan and Havelian at the southern end of the N35 will be formally called the E35 Expressway upon completion. The 66 km road north of Havelian will be converted into a 4-lane double carriageway between Villian and Shankiari. The entire 354 km road north of Shankiari and the road ending at Raikot near Chilas will be constructed as a 2-lane highway. The construction of Diamer Bhasha Dam and Dasu Dam in the area between Thakot and Raikot is very important. C-Pak's Eastern Road Network refers to road projects in Sindh and Punjab. To the east, the 1152 km long motorway connects the two major cities of Pakistan, Karachi and Lahore. The entire project cost about 6 6.6 billion. The Eastern Motorway project is divided into four parts: 1. The 136 km long section between Karachi and Hyderabad also known as M9 Motorway 2. 345 km long section between Hyderabad and Sukkur, 392 km long section between Sukkur 3. A 333 km section between Multan and Lahore (via Abdul Hakim town) Western network of highways Major projects are underway to improve the condition of roads in Balochistan, Khyber Pakhtunkhwa and West Punjab. In the future, parts of the road will be upgraded to a 6-lane motorway. Reconstruction project of 870 km long roads in Balochistan Province 620 km of the hedges have already been rebuilt. The Western Network will start with the Brahma Better Interchange on the M1 Motorway near the towns of Burhan and Hassan Abdal in North Punjab. It consists of 11 interchanges, 74 culverts and 3 major bridges. The N50 National Highway has also been upgraded between Dera Ismail Khan and Balochistan Zhob in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa. The N25 will run south from Quetta to the town of Sorab in central Balochistan. The 470-km route from Sorab, known as N85, will connect central Balochistan with the town of Hoshab in southwestern Balochistan, near the city of Turbat. The towns of Hoshab and Gwadar are connected by a newly constructed 193 km section of the M8 Motorway. Central network of highways The 184 km long M-4 motorway between Faisalabad and Multan does not fall under the purview of the C-Pack projects but is still considered important for the C-Pack transport project. The Karakoram Highway south of Mansehra city, officially known as the E-35 Expressway, will be upgraded. The E35 is not being funded by C-Pack funds.
