History Of Afghanistan | Graveyard of Empires | USA, UK,& Russia | Fai...

What is it about Afghanistan that makes the whole world know it as the 'graveyard of empires'? After all, why did all the great powers of the world, including the United States, Britain, and the Soviet Union, fail to win it? This is a question the answer to which lies in the history of Afghanistan and its geographical location. In the 19th century, the British Empire, then the most powerful empire in the world, tried to conquer it with all its might. But in 1919, Britain finally had to leave Afghanistan and the Afghans had to be liberated. The Soviet Union then invaded Afghanistan in 1979. His intention was to prevent the fall of the Communist government, which had been overthrown in 1978. But it took them ten years to realize that they would not win this war. There is a common denominator between the British Empire and the Soviet Union. When the two empires invaded Afghanistan, they were at the height of their power. But with this invasion, the two empires gradually began to fall apart. The US-led invasion of Afghanistan in 2001 killed millions of people in the years-long war. Twenty years after the attack, US President Joe Biden has decided to withdraw his troops from Afghanistan. It was a controversial decision that drew strong criticism from around the world. Because of this one decision, the Taliban have rapidly seized the Afghan capital, Kabul. Biden defended his decision, saying American citizens "should not die in a war that Afghans themselves are not prepared to fight." Recalling Afghanistan's reputation as a "graveyard of empires", Biden said: "No matter how many military forces are deployed, a stable, united and secure Afghanistan is not possible." Afghanistan has been a graveyard for the world's most powerful armies trying to control Afghanistan in recent centuries. Initially, the invading forces had some success, but in the end they had to flee Afghanistan. David Asby, author of the book "Afghanistan: The Graveyard of Empires" and a defense and foreign policy analyst on the history of Afghanistan, told the BBC's Mando: "It's not that Afghans are strong enough. But what has happened in Afghanistan is due to the mistakes of the invading forces. Why were the great powers defeated? Asbi says Afghanistan is a difficult place if viewed objectively. It is a complex country with an unsustainable infrastructure situation, very limited development and the region is surrounded by land on all sides. However, Asbi said: "Neither the Soviet Union, Britain nor the United States has shown any flexibility with Afghanistan. He wanted to go his own way and he did, but he never understood the complexities of Afghanistan. It is often said that it is impossible to conquer Afghanistan. This is a false statement: Iranians, Mongols and Alexander have conquered Afghanistan. But it is certain that it is courage that comes at a price. And the last three major empires to invade Kabul have failed miserably. British Empire and three invasions For most of the 19th century, Afghanistan was an important stage in the war between the British and Russian empires for control of Central Asia. In this regard, the diplomatic and political tussle between Russia and Britain continued for decades, in which Britain eventually won. But Britain had to pay a heavy price. The British invaded Afghanistan three times between 1839 and 1919 and it can be said that the British failed three times. In the first Anglo-Afghan war of 1839, Britain occupied Kabul. Because Britain thought that if it did not take this step, Russia would occupy Kabul. Because of this, Britain suffered a historic defeat. Some tribes destroyed the army of the most powerful country in the world with very small weapons.
