A fierce battle between the Taliban and the Northern Alliance continues ...

A fierce battle is raging between the Taliban and the Ahmad Masood-led National Resistance Front in the Afghan province of Panjshir, with both sides making contradictory claims of victory. According to the International News Agency, the Taliban are fighting in Panjshir under the leadership of their most astute commander, Qari Fasihuddin, while the National Resistance Front is led by Ahmed Masood, son of the slain Amir Ahmad Shah Masood of the former Northern Alliance. Contradictory claims are being made by the parties to inflict heavy losses on each other. The National Resistance Front claims to have killed 300 Taliban fighters, while the Taliban denies inflicting heavy casualties on insurgents. Amrullah Saleh wrote in his tweet that the Taliban have gathered at the entrances to the Panjshir Valley. The National Resistance Front has closed the Salang Pass and these are areas that should be avoided. If the Taliban enter, they will have to suffer heavy losses in Panjshir as well as in the Andrab Valley. Taliban spokesman Zabihullah Mujahid rejected Amrullah Saleh's claim to close the Salang Pass, saying "Panjshir is completely under Taliban siege and we want talks to resolve issues." The Taliban spokesman also claimed control of Bannu, Pul-e-Hisar and Deh Salah districts of Baghlan province. In an interview with Reuters, Ahmed Shah Masood's son Ahmed Masood said that not only the people of Panjshir but the people of Afghanistan are standing with him. We are fully prepared to defend ourselves. On the other hand, before Ahmad Masood's interview, a video was released by the Taliban on social media in which Taliban fighters could be seen marching towards Panjshir with Afghan military equipment. It should be noted that Panjshir is the only province in Afghanistan after Baghlan where the Taliban have not been able to win so far. Adjacent to the borders of Takhar, Kapisa, Parwan and Nuristan, Panjshir has a population of 1.73 million and the Northern Alliance controls seven districts, including the provincial capital, Bazarak.
