The federal government has released an additional Rs 8 billion for drawback of local taxes (DLTL) payments to solve the financial problems of textile exporters.
Sources told The Express that in the last 13 years, unlike the previous two governments, the present PTI government has made the highest payments to exporters in terms of DLTL.
Sources said that the present government has set a record by releasing a total of Rs 46.7 billion in the form of DLTL to the exporters of the textile sector during the last three years. 24.91 billion were released. Similarly, during the five years of PML-N rule, a total of Rs 32.18 billion was released to exporters in the form of DLTL.
In this regard, Javed Balwani, Chairman, Pakistan Apparel Forum, said that with the continuation of DLTL, the issue of exporters' profitability has been resolved through phased refund. He said that with the end of financial crisis, not only the confidence of exporters in the textile sector is increasing but also the exports of this sector will increase. He said that the representative textile sector exporters and exporters were grateful to the Prime Minister and Trade Adviser for the DLTL payments.
